How do i start?

How do you get started? DO ANYTHING. And I mean anything. If you like graphic design, start on the paint program on the computer. If you want to be a filmmaker, start with your camera phone lol. If you want to be a basketball player and don’t have a ball, use paper and a trash can. There is no excuse for not doing what you love. When you start from nothing, usually your something will shine brighter that any star in this world…..so get your lazy self up and Tell-A-Vision

Ps: I know some of my posts are short, if u don’t like it, sue me.

DO YOU

Don’t let anyone tell you anything. When I first started in the filming business I had people come out the woodwork trying to tell me what I could or could not do. They would say, “Maybe you should do this,” or “you can’t do that.” When you start doing anything in life, you will have people come out of nowhere trying to tell you things.  DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!!!!!!!!!! You do what you feel is good. Do what is in your heart. There will be some people that are looking out for you, but most aren’t. You should start out on your terms, your own way. Its your vision, not anyone else’s. YOU DO YOU…………. Tell-your-Vision

Time Management

Time Management is everything. Especially when it comes to filming, editing, really everything in life. You have to be able to manage your time or you will never get do what you need to.  Film wise, you need to make a schedule of everything form team meetings to when you go to the bathroom (ok, not really but you know what I mean). You do not just want to drive into anything with out a plan (unless you roll like that). If you don’t have a time schedule and you have 100 things being thrown you way (which is ALWAYS going to happen), you will forget very important things and mess everything up. Now don’t be mad if you don’t go exactly how the schedule is because 9/10 it won’t. The schedule is just there to keep you on track. So with that said, go out and Tell-A-Vision.

Green Lantern Review

So I just came from seeing The “Green Lantern” and I have mixed feelings about it.  I usually read one or two reviews about every movie I see but this time I wanted to go in fresh because of how much they hyped this movie up. Therefore, when the movie started I was surprised.  Usually Marvel movies start off either very slow (Hulk, Spiderman) or very fast but gets slow suddenly (X-men: first class, Ironman).  Green Lantern was a traffic video. It starts good, and then gets slow, then fast again, then slow and so on and so forth. Now the fight scenes were good, but I found myself not caring about anything anyone had to say.  The visuals were good to me. From how his suit looked, to the other lanterns, everything was good. Now the BIGGEST flaw that this movie had was the acting.  Now Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Black Lively acting was spot on, but EVERYONE else sucked. I honestly think they could have picked up Disney channel actors and maybe the acting would be better.  However, everything else about the movie was good.  I would recommend this movie if you just go to see the action scenes. Or for the women to see Ryan and Men to see Lively. However, if you think you will get acting as good as Godfather of Scarface….you will be sadly mistaken.

Why??????????

People always ask me, “Why movies? Why don’t you just play football or something? Making movies is dumb. Why do you want to make movies for a living?”  And all I can say is “God put me on this earth for a reason, and my reason is to change this world but film.” You see, since a young age I have been put in front of movies.  I remember my mom putting on “Star Wars” in the morning and when it was finished, I would beg her to play it again. This would go on four or five time’s everyday day.  On top of that, when I went to my grandparent’s house they did the same thing. The only difference was instead of “Star Wars” it was “Lion King.”  I do not know if they did this to shut me up or what but it worked.  I was mesmerized in the colors and visual effects that both movies brought. Even at a young age, I would memorize lines in the movies. This made me feel like I was in the movie.  This is when the drive for movies started raging in my blood.  Even till this day, I look at every movie trailer and imagine myself in the movie. Yea it is dumb, but I love it. In addition, I would view movie and think in my head what changes I could make to better the movie.  Look, I love everything about movies.  Just like if you love football, basketball, or even chess. You and I love these things because we exposed to them. This made us feel live and fun. So all I can say is do what you love. Do not feel you need to change anything just because people ask “Why?”  You could change the world one day with your talent…remember that…...Tell-A-Vision.

Making your movie is like a Boxing match

Now if you have made a movie before you know the challenges that come with making it. If you are thinking about making a movie than all I can say "Get ready.” It all starts with an idea. I always think of movies as a vision that on person had. In addition, a person that makes movies wanted to share this idea with the world.  Now I know it sounds great, but it is not that easy.  What that idea would tell you (until you get there) is how hard it is that make that vision become reality. Now If you just have that idea in your head and keep it to yourself, your doing the world a disservice. You never know, your idea could change the world someday so why keep it in.  Next comes the writing. I have to say I struggle with this (but that does not mean you will struggle). Yea you have an idea and you can go off that, but it is better for you and everyone that you put your idea.  Then you get going…...That’s it. Thanks go make a movie. LOL yea right (I wish it were that easy). If making a movie was that easy, everyone and there momma would have a movie. There are so many steps to making a movie it’s crazy. You have to first have a camera to record this movie. Then you will need a crew to help you (trust me, you do not want to do this on your own). Next, you look for you actors. They will be the star of the movie so make sure you pick the right actors because if you do not, the movie could be a disaster.  Then you need to pick a location. To me this is the HARDEST part of the movie. You need to make sure everything, and I mean everything, is perfect at your location. If you are shooting your film outside, all I can say is good luck. If this is your first movie, I would not do it outside. It is just so much you have to keep in mind. The lighting of the sun (which you cannot change), the wind, the environment as a whole (people, cars, etc.). There is so much you have to keep in mind if filming outside that it could somewhat be overwhelming.  However, if you feel you can handle it, by all means, go for it. Oh and another thing, Please do not think your going to finish your film in one day. This business takes time. For Some moviemakers it could those them up to 5 weeks just for shooting. However, if you are just starting off, it probably would take you 4 or 5 days (that is if everything goes well). In this stage, all I can say is think on the fly. There WILL, I repeat, WILL be problems and the best of directors will know how to think on the fly and make it work. Well after shooting comes the editing. Now for some people it could be fun, but for others it could suck. That has why if you don’t like it, get one of your friends that do like it (and is good at it) to do it for you.  This process by far takes the LONGEST. You have to put everything that you done and piece them together. This is what takes Hollywood movies so long to make. Finally, after you’re done with that, your Masterpiece is done. There is nothing like the feeling of watching the finished product your. Now there are many bumps in the road but if you are strong enough to get over them and willing to wait for perfection, I guarantee you that you will be so happy in the end….So get up, go out, and Tell-A-Vision.
