Learn your history: 4th of July is not for US: African Americans really werent free until April 11th, 1968 .When the Declaration of independence was signed in 1773 many states were unwilling to give there slaves up. There were offically no more slaves in 1863 with the Emancipation Proclamation. Then the world was fiercly segregated. And with all the civil rights movement, We werent really "free" intil 1968 when Martin Luther King jr. Was assassainated by James Earl Ray .
